Purple top turnips are an excellent source of nutrition for deer and other wildlife in the fall and winter.\u00a0 They are high in carbohydrates, which provides deer with the energy they need for daily activities and optimal growth.\u00a0 While not as high in protein as other food plot varieties, purple top turnips still contain a decent amount of protein to aid in supplementing protein intake needed through the fall and winter months.<\/p>\n

The green tops contain fiber which aids in digestion and digestive system health for deer and other wildlife.\u00a0 Purple top turnips are a valuable source of vitamins and minerals.\u00a0 They contain folate, Vitamin C, calcium, and potassium.\u00a0 These nutrients play a crucial role in supporting deer’s immune system, bone strength, and overall vitality.\u00a0 Additionally, the bulb portion of the plant contain high amounts of water which assist in keeping wildlife hydrated.\u00a0 Overall, purple top turnips are a great nutritional supplement for deer and other various wildlife on your property.<\/p>\n

Purple top turnips work great either planted by themselves or utilized in a seed mixture such as our Autumn Attraction<\/a> brassica blend.\u00a0 A common practice is to plant purple top turnips approximately 60-75 days before the first frost, then over-seed with rye grain 30 days later at 50 lbs\/acre with an optional second over-seeding near the first frost date.<\/p>\n
