Shumard Oak (Quercus shumardii)

$5.99

Shumard oaks are a great wildlife tree for several reasons.  As a member of the red oak group, it tends to have regular acorn production year after year, but also a wide range of acorn drop.  It’s common for some Shumard oaks to drop from October into January. This makes them a pivotal tree for property managers because wildlife frequents them routinely through fall and early winter as acorns continue to drop past the time when other oak acorn production has dried up.  They are a big tree at maturity.  Often reaching 110 feet tall, which leads to an abundance of acorn production.  Shumard oaks are a must have for habitat and wildlife management.
