Sawtooth Oak (Quercus accutisima)

$5.99

Sawtooth oaks are known for their early life mast production which begins as early as 3-4 years old.  They produce heavy acorn crops regularly each year and drop earlier than other oak species.   They prefer well-drained sites with fertile soils and an abundance of sunlight.  Its common practice for many land managers to plant sawtooth oaks along with other species of oaks.  This way, after only a few years, the sawtooth oaks begin dropping acorns for wildlife while the other species of oaks continue to mature to acorn producing age. Plant several in groves for an early season deer hunting hot spot.
